Apple Begins Production Of The iPhone 5S And Lower-Cost iPhone This Month
It looks like the iPhone 5S is on track to be released in September/October as Business Insider is reporting today that Jefferies analyst Peter Misek has told them Apple will be starting the production of the iPhone 5S this month. Misek also stated that “he believes Apple has already begun production of its lower-cost iPhone, which will sell for $300-$400, without a subsidy.”
If this is indeed the case it lines up with previous reports we have heard that the lower-cost iPhone will be a midrange smartphone that will compete with other midrange devices. It won’t be a “budget” iPhone parse, but it will still help Apple establish additional market share. It certainly won’t be for the emerging market though as that is not Apple’s style.
Misek also believes Apple will be putting in 50-55 million iPhones in the fourth quarter, with 5 million iPhone 4Ss, 20 million low-cost iPhones, and 25 million iPhone 5Ss. Leer mas »
